Sony Bows PSP's 'Greatest Hits'25 Jul, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. Tuesday announced that gamers could buy the five most popular solo PlayStation Portable (PSP) titles as determined by Sony.
The titles — available for $19.99 each — include Ape Escape: On the Loose; ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails; Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee; Twisted Metal: Head On; and Wipeout Pure.
Since its launch in March 2005, Sony claims to have sold more than 5 million PSP units. Later this year, the company will bow the top third-party PSP titles, including Lumines; Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition; Star Wars Battlefront II; Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix; and Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade.
“The PSP system has truly arrived with the launch of its 'GreatestHits' collection, which we expect will drive consumer interest in thedevice and strong hardware growth, just as the 'Greatest Hits' programs have done for other PlayStation platforms," said Peter Dille, SVP of marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Summer is typically the industry's lightest season for new titles, so releasing the PSP 'Greatest Hits' now benefits many consumers who find themselves with more downtime, whether they're on a plane headed on a vacation or simply trying to beat the heat at home."
