Sony Corp. May 16 announced it would offer a Blu-ray Disc drive in a notebook PC in June — about a month after Toshiba Corp. unveiled a laptop PC with the rival HD DVD drive.
Sony's Vaio notebook PC would reportedly retail for $3,600; a desktop PC with Blu-ray would retail for less than $4,000, according to a Reuters report.
Separately, Sony unveiled the Vaio UX Micro PC, a $1,800 palm-sized notebook PC that incorporates the usual computer capabilities, including Internet access, email, games, music and video conferencing.
The device includes two internal cameras and multiple wireless connections for home, office and/or hot spot use.
