Sony Announces Pricing, Availability for Its First 4K UHD Blu-ray Player

Sony Electronics has disclosed details of the UBP-X800 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player — the electronics giant’s first UHD device. The unit is available now for pre-sale at $299.99 at Amazon, Best Buy and other authorized dealers. The player will be available in stores in March.

French 4K Blu-ray Disc Unit Sales Topped 60,000 in 2016

Sales of 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc movies in France topped 60,000 units at the end of 2016, according to new data from Blu-ray Partners, a French consortium of industry players, including Paramount Home Media Distribution, Fox Pathé Europa, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Studio Canal, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, Warner Bros. Entertainment France and Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, among others.

Irdeto Helps Shut Down Alleged ISP Piracy Ring in Spain

The Spanish National Police have successfully raided a store in a Calahonda shopping center in Málaga, Spain, owned by an Internet Service Provider (ISP) suspected of hosting a large-scale illegal IPTV streaming business, according to digital platform security firm Irdeto.
