U.K. pay-TV operator British Sky Broadcasting Ltd. (Sky) has licensed digital TV software company OpenTV’s patents and intellectual property rights to continue development of BSkyB digital TV platform. Both companies also will work toward dispatching the interactive OpenTV Core 3 system to some of Sky’s set-top boxes.
“OpenTV and Sky have built a strong relationship over the last 10 years,” said Ben Bennett, OpenTV’s CEO. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to enhance our relationship by combining IP licensing with technology provision.”
