Skate Clothing Maker Gets Into VOD

Quiksilver will provide boardsports programming.Clothing and accessories distributor Quiksilver and TVN Entertainment Corp.have cut a deal to create a virtual action sports television channel.Programming will be packaged for video-on-demand (VOD) and subscription-video-on-demand (SVOD) delivery to all last mile television program providers including cable, satellite, wireless, DSL and their customers for domestic television viewing.Quiksilver is a global brand committed to the boardriding lifestyle. The designs, makes and sells active clothing to youth worldwide under the Quiksilver, Roxy and Hawk clothing brands.The company also plans to expand its freestanding retail network, the Quiksilver Boardrider's Club, from 38 stores in the coming year.Quiksilver owns one of the largest video libraries of live action skate, surf and snowboarding and sponsors some of these sports" most prestigious events including the Roxy Fiji Pro, Quiksilver "Men Who Ride Mountains" Big Wave Event at Mavericks and the Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau. Quiksilver will be actively partnering with other endemic action sports clothing companies and video producers to create a comprehensive offering from multiple sources. This content will be drawn from relationships with these companies and will be made available to the market via TVN's Digital Content Express suite of services."Our relationship with TVN will create a programming first in action sports and boardriding, bringing together the best in video programming and delivering it into cable homes.
