Showtime Offers First Episode of 'Tudors' Through Web and Mobile

Showtime Networks is getting inventive in promoting the launch of the second season of “The Tudors.”

To promote the March 30 premiere of the second season, Showtime offered the first episode of the first season on dozens of outlets, including Yahoo, Amazon Unbox, MSN, YouTube, iTunes, Gather.com and more. Verizon Wireless and other mobile providers also carried the episode.

“The strategy to release a full episode on digital platforms has proven to be a very effective tool for Showtime, not only increasing consumers' exposure to premium television programs, but also to help drive subscription to the network,” said Robert Hayes, SVP of the Showtime Digital Group. “We had a tremendously successful launch for ‘The Tudors' last year, and we have expanded the reach of the campaign to even more digital platforms this year. This is our most ambitious multiplatform push yet to subscribers and non subscribers and we expect to have a combined reach of over 190 million users.”

The network also enlisted the help of more than 200 bloggers to get the word out about the promotion.
