Shout! Studios Launches

22 Nov, 2017 By: John Latchem

Independent home video distributor Shout! Factory is expanding its original content reach with the launch of Shout! Studios.

According to Deadline.com Nov. 13, the new filmed-entertainment, production and distribution division will specialize in content development and already has three films slated for 2018: Humor Me, coming Jan. 12; Izzy Gets the F Across Town in March; and The House of Tomorrow in April.

Other upcoming titles associated with the label include Basmati Blues, starring Brie Larson and Donald Sutherland; animated feature Big Fish & Begonia, and The Boxcar Children: Surprise Island, featuring the voices of Martin Sheen, J.K. Simmons and Dane DeHaan.

Veteran Shout! executive David McIntosh has been named SVP of content licensing and strategy for the studio.

Shout! Studio is also developing a show based on the bestseller Desperate Networks, which chronicles behind-the-scenes maneuvering at television networks in the early 2000s.

“Establishing Shout! Studios is exciting for us, as well as the next logical step for the company,” Shout! founders Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos told Deadline. “While staying true to our entrepreneurial spirit, we want Shout! Studios to be the place for director/artist-driven films and an incubator for new content.”
