Sears Ups DVD Offerings28 Sep, 2004 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Sears, Roebuck and Co. has quietly upped its offering of DVD movies from a smattering of titles to 500 releases in select stores and online by the end of the year, according to a company spokesperson.
The titles, priced from $5 on up, include such recent video releases as Shrek 2 (DreamWorks Home Entertainment), Scooby-Doo2: Monsters Unleashed (Warner Home Video) and Barbershop 2: Back in Business (MGM Home Entertainment), as well as catalog titles and TV DVD fare, such as Felicity: Season Three (Buena Vista Home Entertainment), and special editions, such as The Star Wars Trilogy (20th Century Fox Home Entertainment).
“It's been a ramp-up process,” said a Sears spokesperson.
“It makes for easy one-stop shopping. It's a convenience for our customers.
“[The titles] are positioned by the electronics area; it's an easy thing to purchase. By the holidays, we should see more than 100 new movie titles.”
Sears has more than 860 retail stores nationwide.
