Sears Expands DVD14 Feb, 2005 By: Erik Gruenwedel
DVDs and CDs will be featured prominently in the first 25 Sears Essentials locations, slated to open this spring in 12 states. The midsized stores — bigger than the mall locations but not as big as Sears Grand locations — are the result of last year's acquisition of 50 Kmart and six Wal-Mart stores.
DVD offerings (split 50 percent with music titles) at Sears Essentials will rival those at Grand locations, and also are beginning to make their first appearance at select mall locations, according to a Sears spokesperson.
“We will have a pretty extensive selection of DVD and CD titles with listening stations,” the spokesperson said.
