Ron Schwartz has been promoted to EVP and GM of home entertainment at Lionsgate.

He previously co-headed the sales division, with EVP of sales Jed Grossman.

Grossman, who will continue to handle day-to-day sales operations, now reports to Schwartz, who reports directly to Lionsgate president Steve Beeks.

In his new role, Schwartz — who has been with Lionsgate since 1992, when it was Trimark — will oversee certain aspects of the home entertainment division, including sales, the DVD production group, and new media such as Blu-ray Disc, which the supplier is actively supporting.

Lionsgate recently reported video revenue of more than $520 million in fiscal 2006, a 13% increase from the previous year. The home entertainment division has a market share of 4.1%, right behind New Line Home Entertainment and the six major studios.

“Ron has been a loyal and valuable part of this company since its Trimark days, and this is the natural next step for him,” Beeks said. “His contributions have helped Lionsgate grow into the largest and most successful independent studio in the industry.”
