Herb Scannell and Ann Sarnoff Sarnoff Taking Over for Scannell at BBC

BBC Worldwide May 21 announced Herb Scannell will step down as president of BBC Worldwide North America. Ann Sarnoff, currently COO of BBC Worldwide North America, is being promoted to replace him, effective Aug. 1.

Best Buy Q1 Entertainment Sales Drop 11%

Best Buy May 21 continued a sluggish quarterly retail trend for home entertainment, reporting an 11% drop in same-store entertainment revenue for the first quarter (ended May 2). Comparable entertainment revenue increased 1.5% during the previous-year period.

Trans World Entertainment Posts Q1 Profit

Trans World Entertainment May 21 reported a first-quarter (ended May 2) profit of nearly $200,000 compared with a loss of $400,000 during the previous-year period. Revenue decreased 10% to $78 million from $87.2 million, due in part to a 7% reduction in store count from 333 locations to 310.
