Samsung Delays Blu-ray Players3 Apr, 2006 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Samsung Electronics April 3 announced it would postpone from May 23 to June 25 the scheduled launch of its $999 BD-P1000 Blu-ray Disc player.
The Japanese-based consumer electronics company attributed the delay to compatibility testing with several Blu-Ray test discs that become available in late April from product manufacturers and content providers.
Samsung joins Panasonic, which announced it would launch its $1,500 Blu-ray player in September.
Samsung said the BD-P1000 would include two additional features, such as 1080p output via HDMI for Blu-Ray software titles that are digitally mastered in 1920 x 1080 resolution, and up to 1080p up-conversion of conventional DVDs through the HDMI digital interface.
