Rival Cries Foul as Netflix Avoids Tax in New Zealand-Aussie Launch

With Netflix slated to launch streaming service in New Zealand and Australia March 26, one rival Kiwi service is crying foul. Specifically, Netflix won’t have to pay a value-added tax as a foreign company selling digital content to New Zealand and Australian consumers.

Sling TV Gets Xbox One, A+E Networks

Sling TV, the Dish Network-owned subscription streaming service, March 17 announced a trio of updates, including availability on Xbox One. The $20 monthly SVOD service said four A+E Networks’ channels — A&E, History, H2 and Lifetime — will be available in its “Best of Live TV” core package by the end of March. Sling also introduced two A+E add-on packs, “Lifestyle Extra” and “World News Extra,” each priced at an additional $5 per month.
