Best Buy Co. Inc. and Barnes & Noble are among retailers offering consumers a free Disney Blu-ray Disc movie with the purchase of another Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment Blu-ray title.
The promotion, which is independent of the Blu-ray player deal that includes five free titles, was included in Best Buy's weekly Sunday newspaper insert.
The offer involves 14 Disney titles priced at $29.99, including Invincible, Chicken Little, Wild Hogs, Eight Below, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Gone in 60 Seconds, The Lookout, Pearl Harbor, Apocalypto, D?j? Vu, The Guardian, The Prestige and Enemy of the State.
Best Buy spokesperson Brian Lucas said the promotion was a one-time deal and not intended to indicate bias toward a particular format.
“A lot of times we have promotions with both formats in the same circular,” Lucas said. “We are just looking for ways to generate excitement around next-generation packaged media however we can.”
