“Resident Evil” is getting a CGI makeover.
Sony Pictures Entertainment and Capcom Co. have partnered to produce the fourth film installment of the video-game based horror franchise, Resident Evil: Degeneration, as an all-animated feature. The DVD, Blu-ray Disc and UMD street later this year following a fall theatrical run in Japan.
Produced by Hiroyuki Kobayashi (associate producer of Resident Evil: Apocalypse) and directed by Makoto Kamiya (special effects director of Godzilla, Mothra), Degeneration follows seven years after Raccoon City has been leveled, supposedly destroying the deadly zombie virus and sending the evil Umbrella Corp. into dissolution. But at one U.S. airport, a zombie has been unleashed. And one's all it takes to end everything.
Kobayashi and Kamiya were scheduled to preview the title at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
