Research Supports HD Camcorder Market Growth1 Nov, 2007 By: Chris Tribbey
Nearing the end of a year in which high-definition players, discs and TVs saw surges in growth, high-definition camcorders are following suit.
A new study from research firm Understanding & Solutions shows HD camcorders only represent 10% of the player demand in the market, but account for 25% of the market value. And with high-def displays expected to be in 34% of U.S. homes by year's end, and 90% by 2011, the market for HD camcorders will grow, the report states.
The average retail price for an HD camcorder was more than $1,300 last year, but by 2011 that price will be cut in half, according to the report.
