'Rescue Me' Goes Mini2 Jun, 2008 By: John Latchem
With the fifth season of “Rescue Me” delayed until next spring as a result of the writers strike, Sony Pictures Television and FX will offer 10 minisodes of new content beginning June 24.
The five-minute mini episodes feature Denis Leary and the rest of the cast in weekly comedic, standalone situations, and will be available on Crackle.com and SPT's Minisode Network (including YouTube, AOL Video and MySpace) the day following the FX telecast.
“The minisodes are designed to keep the series top-of-mind in preparation for next season's 22 consecutive episodes,” said John Landgraf, president and GM of FX Networks.
The 22-episode order, while standard for broadcast network shows, represents a long season for a basic cable series, Landgraf said.
