Rentrak Signs New VOD Clients

7 May, 2007 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Rentrak Corp. May 7 announced the inclusion of six new network clients to its expanding video-on-demand (VOD) data-tracking service.

The Portland, Ore.-based media measurement company said BET Networks, BlueHighways TV, Discovery Networks, Fox Cable Network, Inc., Lifetime Entertainment Services Inc. and Shalom TV Inc. joined 66 other studio, cable and broadcast clients seeking transactional data for their VOD, subscription-on-demand, free on-demand and real-time encoding services.

In 2006, Rentrak said it processed nearly 2.2 billion orders for VOD programming, allowing content providers to analyze their offerings performance, including frequency of consumer use at the set-top box level.

“With on-demand programming continuing to experience substantial growth in all categories, content providers are increasingly interested in experimenting and expanding their offerings and therefore need daily access to their performance data,” said Carol Hinnant, VP of business development for Rentrak's OnDemand segment.
