Rentrak: 2007 a telling year for Packaged Media

Despite a 10.3% increase in DVD rental revenue in 2006 compared to 2005, Brad Hackley, VP, business development with Rentrak Corp., said day-and-date movie downloads are putting the squeeze on packaged media both at rental and sellthrough. “There is a lot of testing going on with the studios,” Hackley said. “In 2006 we weathered the storm and came up positive in sellthrough and rental. But this year is going to be a telling year for packaged video.”
