Redbox Partners With Supervalu6 Feb, 2007 By: Jessica Wolf
McDonald's-owned Redbox Feb. 6 announced a partnership with the Supervalu grocery chain that will roll out its $1-per night kiosks into an unspecified number of locations.
The rollout follows a Redbox pilot program at select Supervalu stores. The Supervalu parent company includes chains Acme, Albertson's, bigg's, Farm Fresh, Hornbachers, Jewel-Osco, Scott's Food & Pharmacy, Shaw's, Shop 'n Save, Shoppers Food and Pharmacy and services hundreds of independent grocers through its supply chain business.
"Offering our customers in-store DVD rentals is just another way we are striving to make our customers' busy lives easier," said Duncan Mac Naughton, Supervalu EVP of merchandising and marketing.
The expanded deal with the grocery chain opens the Redbox service to a new slate of potential renters, said Gregg Kaplan, company CEO.
