Redbox to Go Public2 May, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey
Redbox has announced its intention to go public.
The Illinois-based DVD rental kiosk operator said May 1 that it will go forward with an initial public offering of common stock “subject to market conditions” some time in May. Calls to Redbox representatives were not returned in time for publication.
The kiosk operator, owned by McDonald's and Coinstar, aims to have more than 10,000 of its DVD rental machines in supermarkets and restaurants by the end of the year, thanks recently to agreements with Wal-Mart and Walgreens.
