Questex Media Group LLC. this week closed its acquisition of Advanstar Communications Inc.'s home entertainment group, which includes Home Media Retailing and other properties. The sale was announced in early April.
Don Rosenberg has been named VP and GM of the Questex Home Entertainment Group. Rosenberg had served as director of Advanstar's video group and as publisher of Home Media Retailing (formerly Video Store Magazine) for more than 10 years.
“We're now part of a company that wants us to grow and is willing to help us achieve this growth,” Rosenberg said. “There's a lot of potential in this business, and I look forward to exploiting the synergies between our various home entertainment properties, from publishing to trade shows and conferences.”
The Questex Home Entertainment Group includes HMR, its Web site and conferences, and Home Entertainment Events (HEE), which includes the Video Software Dealers Association's (VSDA) Home Entertainment 2005, July 26 – 28, in Las Vegas, and the Adult Entertainment Expo, held each January in Las Vegas. HEE is a joint venture with the VSDA.
Newton, Mass.-based Questex Media Group is a new company comprised of a variety of publishing and trade show properties formerly with Advanstar, focusing on the entertainment, technology and communications, travel and hospitality, and beauty sectors. Questex was formed by investment firm The Audax Group and Kerry Gumas, formerly the VP and GM of Advanstar's technology and communications group, who will be president and CEO.
