PSP Downloads Available in Japan

28 Jul, 2005 By: Holly J. Wagner

Sony Communications Network has reportedly released a PSP firmware update in Japan that includes a built-in Web browser, and the company is preparing to offer movies via download for the handheld game units.

SCN also launched a Web portal that lets users download video clips to their PSPs at www.p-tv.jp. That content includes movie trailers, animated shorts and more. Users can download directly to the PSP or onto a PC and then transfer the information. Downloaded files must be stored on a MemoryStick Duo card.

So far content is free to registered users but the user interface is in Japanese only.

In a related development, music network Fuse TV is offering interviews with music acts free to download to PSP. They are available from the download page at www.fuse.tv.
