PorchLight Nabs 'ZakLand'

25 Feb, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey

PorchLight Home Entertainment has nailed down the domestic rights to “ZakLand,” a half-animated, half-live action children's show hosted by entertainer Zak Morgan.

Morgan leads children into a fictional world of music and comedy with his friends, both real and imagined, using both puppetry and animations. He performs children's concerts on stage more than 200 times a year, and his show is produced by Tiodnaci Productions (Tiodnaci is “I can do it” backwards). Director Jay Silverman co-writes and co-produces.

“Zak Morgan's blend of original music, stand-up comedy and theater combine to create a unique, charming and entertaining show for kids,” said Brenda Bisner, PorchLight VP of acquisitions for children's programming. “PorchLight is proud to bring this hugely successful entertainer to DVD for the first time ever.”

Morgan said of the deal: “With ‘ZakLand,' we wanted to create a safe, fun world that respects the intelligence of children and encourages them to imagine and realize they are capable of doing extraordinary things. PorchLight's stellar reputation and its focus on smart and wholesome content for children makes it the perfect fit for ‘ZakLand.' We are thrilled about our partnership.”

The first DVD release is slated for May 20.
