Penguins March to DVD22 Sep, 2005 By: Holly J. Wagner
In an otherwise lackluster summer at the box office, the documentary March of the Penguins skated to a cool $70 million gross.
The tale of emperor penguins making their annual trek to their frozen breeding ground charmed critics and audiences coast to coast. While penguins can swim, this trek goes overland and, so far, audiences have been happy to go with them.
Consumers who line up behind the Warner Home Video Nov. 29 (prebook Oct. 18, DVD $28.98) release will be treated to bonus materials including the penguin's-eye view from “Crittercam: Emperor Penguins,” a making-of featurette called “Of Men and Penguins,” Bugs Bunny squaring off with a penguin in the classic cartoon “8 Ball Bunny” and an advance teaser for Warner Bros.' Happy Feet, due in theaters next year.
