PeachDVD Goes Mobile

14 Jan, 2008 By: Erik Gruenwedel

PeachDVD, distributor of non-hardcore adult DVDs, has begun offering content, including ringtones and wallpaper, to the U.S. mobile phone market following a soft launch in December.

Distribution of erotic content to U.S.-based telecommunications services by PeachDVD.com through a partnership with WAAT Media Wireless Entertainment is considered one of the first in the industry.

WAAT claims to have distribution agreements with 100 mobile operators in 40 countries, including T-Mobile in the United States.

U.S. mobile phone services have historically opted not to distribute hardcore content due to decency and user age-verification concerns with the Federal Communications Commission.

Mobile customers will also be able to text message with their favorite Peach girl.

Faced with slowing packaged media sales, increasing numbers of adult DVD suppliers are diversifying distribution through streaming, electronic sellthrough and mobile phones.

“Entering 2008, allowing consumers to watch videos, play games and even communicate with Peach girls via mobile phones is a significant opportunity to increase revenues, and we look forward to assisting PeachDVD in realizing this opportunity,” said Ryan Jones, VP of marketing for Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based WAAT Media.
