Paramount's Indy DVD Collection Breaks Company Record29 Oct, 2003 By: Erik Gruenwedel
Paramount Home Entertainment is proclaiming as a hit the $50 million-plus generated in first-week sales of The Adventures of Indiana Jones The Complete DVD Movie Collection.
The eagerly anticipated and critically praised four-disc set sold 1.1 million units in eight days, making it the fastest-selling collection ever, according to Paramount.
There was significant demand for this boxed set across a very broad consumer base, said Thomas Lesinski, president of Paramount Pictures Worldwide Home Entertainment. Sales were so brisk during the first four days that many retailers had a hard time keeping the collection in stock over the weekend.
Paramount officials expect the 10-hour boxed set, which features a digitally-remastered Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, in addition to requisite bonus material, to have strong legs through the holidays.
