Paramount Plans ‘Continuity' for MTV Line31 Aug, 2001 By: Stephanie Prange
Paramount Home Entertainment, which recently picked up distribution of the MTV Home Video lines in the United States and Canada, has noimmediate plans to change the lines, according to v.p. of publicity Martin Blythe. The lines were formerly distributed by Sony Music.
“At this stage we are releasing titles that can be seen as a continuity from those previously released,” Blythe says.
Initial releases under the new arrangement include The Real World YouNever Saw: Back to New York (street date Dec. 4; prebook Oct. 23 for DVD and Oct. 30 for VHS); Inside Fear, a look at the network's show “Fear” (street Nov. 6; prebook Sept. 25 for DVD and Oct. 2 for VHS); and the feature-length Daria the Movie: Is It Fall Yet?, slated for an early fall release. Pricing is $14.95 for VHS and $19.99 for DVD.
The addition of the line brings another Viacom property back into the home video fold. Blythe adds, “It made sense since we already had international rights.”
