Paramount: Chappelle's Show Season One: Uncensored All-Time Top-Selling TV DVD

21 Oct, 2004 By: Erik Gruenwedel

Citing data from Nielsen VideoScan and retail sources, Paramount Home Entertainment and Comedy Central Home Entertainment said the Feb. 24 double-disc DVD debut of Chappelle's Show Season One: Uncensored, featuring comedian Dave Chappelle, has become the all-time best-selling TV DVD release, with more than 2 million units sold.

The results would allegedly surpass 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment's The Simpsons — The Complete First Season, which has sold 1.9 million units.

In August, Chappelle extended his contract with cable TV station Comedy Central in a deal that reportedly pays him half of the DVD revenue from not only future “Chappelle's Show” seasons, but the first two seasons as well.

Chappelle's Show Season Two: Uncensored is scheduled to street Feb. 8, 2005 — eight days before the show's third-season debut on Comedy Central.
