Paramount Courts Latinos

12 May, 2008 By: Angelique Flores

Paramount Home Entertainment is making some of its biggest hits available to the Spanish-speaking population.

The studio will release top Paramount and DreamWorks DVD titles in new Spanish-language packaging. The first wave hits May 20 and includes such family fare as the “Shrek” films, Madagascar, Over the Hedge, Flushed Away and The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. Also slated are actioners, thrillers and dramas such as the “Indiana Jones” films, Transformers, Next, Disturbia and a special collector's edition of Flashdance.

The DVDs each will have a band on the cover calling out “En Español” to distinguish the product. All the text on the packaging — title, synopsis and other information — will be translated into Spanish. Every DVD in this line also will include a Spanish soundtrack.

“With a growing Spanish-speaking population, we feel it makes sense to deliver a complete package that will appeal to them,” said John Kim, VP of catalog brand marketing at Paramount.
