Paramount and MTV Serve Up 'All You've Got'12 Apr, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf
DVD Studio, a new Viacom production arm teaming MTV and Paramount Home Entertainment, will release its first DVD product May 23, with the teen comedy All You've Got.
DVD Studio is the result of a partnership between MTV Networks and Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment to create content branded with the MTV attitude and tagged to the cable channel's demographic.
Ever since it split into two companies, “branding” has been the watchword for the new Viacom. Company executives have repeatedly expressed plans for branding its hot pop-culture cable properties like MTV and BET.
DVD Studio will leverage talent already thriving on-camera and behind the camera on all of MTV's networks in music-based, dramatic and comedic films, as well as documentaries. The new division will also distribute films acquired in conjunction with Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment, as well as original content.
All You've Got, the story of two rival girls' volleyball teams, features music from artists like Frankie J, Jennifer Peña, Lil Rob, Ciara, Outkast, Rihanna and Play N Skillz.
The film stars Sarah Mason, Ciara, Efren Ramirez, Jennifer Peña, Doug Savant (“Desperate Housewives”), boxer Laila Ali and Faizon Love (Blue Crush).
The DVD boasts plenty of extras, including a making-of documentary, cast interviews (in English and Spanish), behind-the-scenes footage, deleted scenes and a “Bump, Set, Spike” featurette on how the cast went about developing its volleyball skills.
The title also illustrates Viacom's promised cross-promotional, multilayered marketing strategy for the company's properties.
All You've Got will have additional exclusive features, content and promotions available on all MTV platforms including on-air, Mobile, VOD, MTV Overdrive and on MTV.com. At the end of April, MTV.com will post a dedicated film page, which will include Q&A sessions with the stars, photos and a custom game.
MTV's Overdrive will air an exclusive premiere of the film trailer in early May. On May 13, a “Making Of All You've Got” movie special will air on MTV, followed by the world-premiere of All You've Got on the network on May 20.
Starting May 5, VOD will run the making-of special, along with a 10-minute sneak peek. Wireless video content includes the trailer, cast interviews, deleted scenes and featurettes.
An All You've Got Mobile storefront on MTV.com will offer a “Cast Picks” ringtones boutique and mobile wallpapers.
