New York's got everything, but does it have enough Best Buys? Apparently not. Best Buy is opening 10 new stores in the next two years in New York and New Jersey.
For the East Coast-savvy out there, here are the prospective opening dates and locations for the 10 stores:
Opening summer 2002
Bridgewater, New Jersey at 300 Commons Way
Chelsea, New York at 60 West 23rd St.
Commack, New York at Route 25 and the Jerrico Turnpike adjacent to the Huntington Square Mall
Holmdel, New Jersey at 2130 State Route 35
Opening fall 2002
Brick, New Jersey at Route 70 and Chambers Bridge Road
Brooklyn, New York at Caesar's Bay Shopping Center at Bay Street and Belt Pkwy.
East Brunswick, New Jersey at the Mid State Mall Route 18 and Prospect St.
Huntington Station, New York at Route 110 next to the Walt Whitman Mall
Riverhead (Long Island), New York at Old Country and Mill Road
Mt. Vernon, New York at East Sanford Blvd. and Belford Ave.
Best Buy has 492 stores in the United States, 19 of which are in New York and New Jersey. Eventually, the company plans to have 35 stores open in New York and New Jersey, according to a company spokesperson.
Best Buy operates 492 stores in the United States. The company is scheduled to open 60 new stores this year and is on track to have roughly 600 stores nationwide by 2004.
In addition to Best Buy retail stores, Minneapolis-based Best Buy Co., Inc. also owns BestBuy.com, Magnolia Hi-Fi, Future Shop, Media Play, On Cue, Sam Goody and Suncoast.
