Nintendo will ship 6 million units of its new gaming system, Wii, to the market between the product's initial launch in fourth-quarter 2006 and March 17, 2007.
The Wii system, which features freehand controls, will retail for about $250, the company announced May 25. The company also expects to sell 17 million Wii games in the launch timeframe.
Nintendo is projecting of an 18% increase in total sales globally for its 2006 full-year financials, including the Wii launch.
Exact release dates and announcement of the software titles for the Wii library are forthcoming.
