Sales of Nintendo products soared this November, representing 55% of all video game systems sold.
Wii sales reached 600,000 in the first eight days of availability after its Nov. 19 launch, hitting nearly half a million in the United States alone after seven days.
Although Wii sold at a rate of more than 70,000 a day, the biggest seller was the Nintendo DS, at almost 920,000 units sold, followed by the Nintendo's Game Boy Advance at nearly 642,000 units sold. Total units sold for Nintendo, including the GameCube, add up to more than 2.1 million out of the 3.9 million game systems purchased this month.
Nintendo says more than a million Wiis will be available before the end of the year.
Sales of Wii title The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess reached 412,000, representing 87% of all Wii purchasers. Although Wii Sports software comes with every system, an average of two additional games per buyer were purchased, compared to an average of about one additional game for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
