Universal Pictures is stepping up its commitment to the booming market for family entertainment with the establishment of Universal Studios Home Entertainment Family Productions.
The new unit will function under home entertainment division president Craig Kornblau and will be overseen by Glenn Ross, the former head of Lions Gate Entertainment's Family Home Entertainment label.
The unit will develop, produce and acquire family productions for home entertainment and television.
“What we've got here is a gigantic, organic growth initiative for NBC Universal,” Kornblau said.
As the new unit's GM and EVP, Ross said he was drawn to Universal by “the power and expertise they have in distribution and marketing.”
