Netflix, VOD Spur Q3 Ecommerce Spending

Subscription video-on-demand services such as Netflix, Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime, coupled with transactional VOD and electronic sellthrough, contributed to a 13% increase in e-commerce consumer spending in the third quarter, according to a new report.

Lionsgate Narrows Q2 Loss Slightly

Lionsgate Nov. 9 reported a second-quarter (ended Sept. 30) net loss of $24.6 million, which was a 17% improvement over a net loss of $29.7 million during the previous-year period. The loss again was due to the Santa Monica, Calif.-based mini-major’s underperforming theatrical slate.
