Blockbuster Pays Partial Studio Claims

A bankruptcy court judge has authorized Blockbuster Inc. to pay initial pre-petition claims to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, Warner Home Video and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment totaling $28 million — a little more than half the $53.8 million owed the studios.

Dividing a ‘Legendary’ Disc

Merchandising: 'Legendary,' a family drama about high-school wrestling produced by WWE Films and starring John Cena, debuted in theaters in early September and is already available on disc. The catch is that Vivendi Entertainment has made the DVD version of the film available exclusively at Walmart, for $13, while the Blu-ray is offered only at Best Buy, for $24.99.
