Netflix Q2: 'It Was a Good Quarter'

Netflix July 17 announced its own summer blockbuster. The subscription-streaming video behemoth said it added a record 5.2 million subscribers in the second quarter (ended June 30), to finish the period with nearly 104 million subs globally. Analysts had projected 3.2 million new subs. Through the first-half of the year, new subs are up 21% from a year ago.

Tesco, Disney Going 'Vinyl' to Jumpstart Disc Sales

Borrowing a page from the vinyl record redux, British supermarket giant Tesco has teamed up with Walt Disney Home Entertainment to release the first 12-inch packaged-media edition of 'Beauty and the Beast' for £25 ($32.65). Dubbed the 'Big Sleeve,' the format includes the DVD and Blu-ray Disc editions as well as 12-inch collectible cards featuring characters and movie scenes.

Hulu Expands Selection of Fox Animated Comedies

Streaming service Hulu is now the exclusive subscription video on-demand home to the full runs of 20th Century Fox animated comedies “Bob’s Burgers” and “The Cleveland Show,” and will add all seasons of “Futurama” and “American Dad” in the coming weeks.
