Netflix Grows With New Execs17 Apr, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf
Industry veteran Sanford Friedman, until recently head of worldwide operations for DreamWorks Home Entertainment, has joined Netflix as VP of product operations.
He will focus on improving the quality of acquisition, receiving, shipping and handling for the online DVD rental site's extensive inventory.
Also joining the company is Bahman Naragi as VP of original content. Naragi comes to Netflix from independent film production company Intermedia Film. He will lead Netflix's push into the acquisition and distribution of original content, mostly indie movies and TV properties.
“As Netflix pushes toward its goal of 20 million subscribers by 2010 to 2012, and as we continue to rapidly expand both the variety and sheer volume of our content, seasoned leaders like Bahman and Sandy will add exponentially to our efforts,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos.
Both new executives will report to Sarandos and work out of the company's Beverly Hills, Calif. office.
