Netflix Goes Live On Location

11 Apr, 2007 By: Jessica Wolf

Netflix has another summer treat in store for film and music fans.

Following up on last year's Rolling Roadshow — during which Netflix sponsored film screenings of popular flicks at thematically appropriate destinations — is Netflix LIVE! On Location.

Star Bruce Willis and his band The Accelerators will headline the traveling event this summer. They kick off the festivities Aug. 2 at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla., and perform a live, public concert prior to an outdoor screening of Willis's 1998 film Armageddon.

Netflix will announce additions to the Netflix LIVE! On Location series in the coming weeks. The series will pair classic films with live musical performances by the films' featured stars in locations uniquely associated with the movies. Last summer, as part of a nationwide summer screening tour, Netflix brought Kevin Costner and his band to the cornfields of Dyersville, Iowa, for an event attended by thousands at the shooting location of the 1989 film, Field of Dreams.

NEtflix is expecting 5,000 fans to turn out at the Kennedy Space Center to catch a live performance from Willis.

“It is truly thrilling to return to The Kennedy Space Center to enjoy Armageddon with my band on hand,” said Willis. “Movies have been my career, but music has always been my love, so I am excited about merging the two worlds in such a unique way and being able to share it with so many people.”

The traveling show is a way to share the Netflix experience with thousands of people across the country, especially with an artist such as Willis who has such an enduring popularity with his fans, said Leslie Kilgore, chief marketing officer for Netflix.
