National Geographic Global Media Creates Digital Studio13 Nov, 2007 By: Billy Gil
National Geographic Global Media (NGGM) has created the Digital Studio and named Mark Bauman EVP, reporting to Michael Rosenfeld, president of National Geographic Television.
The unit will include the National Geographic Short-Form Video Group, which has made videos for NationalGeographic.com; programming for Nat Geo Music, the studio's music channel, for which the studio will produce content for mobile downloads; and the “Wild Chronicles” unit, which produces a syndicated magazine show now in its third season on PBS.
Bauman also will continue to work with National Geographic Missions on finding showcases for National Geographic Society work. Earlier this year he was named EVP, National Geographic Music and Radio.
“Mark Bauman is a talented, creative, entrepreneurial professional, who brings a tremendous amount of experience to this new role as well as a keen sense of the National Geographic mission,” said Tim Kelly, president of the recently formed NGGM, which combines National Geographic's consumer media activities.
