MySpace Launches Web TV Site28 Jun, 2007 By: Billy Gil
MySpace, one of the nation's most popular Web sites, plans to beta launch a video site, MySpaceTV ( www.myspacetv.com), which will be integrated with mother site myspace.com.
The site will work in largely the same way as YouTube, allowing users to generate and share videos, but without registering with the main site. According to Web-data provider comScore, MySpace had 50 unique users streaming videos as of April, up from 35 million in January, with offerings such as Walt Disney CEO Michael Eisner's “Prom Queen” and the Sony Minisode Network.
“This is the tip of the iceberg,” said Chris DeWolfe, CEO of MySpace. ”The incredible video growth trajectory we're seeing is a testament to the unique content and high user engagement in all corners of the MySpace community.”
