MVD Folds in Big Daddy Music Distribution4 Mar, 2008 By: Chris Tribbey
MVD Entertainment Group has folded in independent music champion Big Daddy Music Distribution, combining the two companies' DVD and CD operations.
Under the agreement, Big Daddy's Kenilworth, N.J, facility will close in a month, with MVD's facility in Oaks, Penn., taking on all the work.
Burt Goldstein, founder of Big Daddy, will serve as VP of product management of MVD Entertainment Group, and will continue to sign new artists to the label. Prince, The Hives, George Clinton, Information Society and other well-known acts have had their work marketed and distributed via Big Daddy.
“I believe in the future of music, both physically and digitally,“ Goldstein said. “With the staff and experience of MVD behind me, I am looking for greater success than ever before. MVD has been and continues to be very active in the global market and I look forward to exposing the Big Daddy family of labels to the rest of the world.”
MVD has released more than 1,500 titles since 1999, and was the second-largest producer of music DVDs in 2007.
