MTV Aligns With Chinese Search Engine

19 Oct, 2006 By: Jessica Wolf

MTV Networks has aligned with Baidu, China's top search engine.

Viacom-owned MTV Networks inked a content and advertising agreement with Baidu.com that will give China's 123 million Internet users easy access to 15,000 hours of MTV and Nickelodeon original video content, as well as music videos from five top Chinese and Asian music companies.

The content will be available for online viewing or download at www.baidu.com. MTV will provide the sites first branded-content area, called MTV Zone, which will carry advertising from Motorola and P&G at launch.

"This breakthrough relationship delivers Chinese audiences a major digital platform for nonstop 24-hour access to MTV and Nickelodeon programming for the first time," said Bill Roedy, president of MTV Networks International.
