MPI Launches Label3 Feb, 2005 By: Angelique Flores
Revisiting its roots in the horror market, MPI Media Group has launched Dark Sky Films. The new label's catalog will be devoted to American, European and Japanese from the horror, film noir, sci-fi, thriller and mystery genres from the 1950s to the present.
“I think some titles will appeal to the hardcore underground fans, others will appeal to movie-lovers who enjoy the slightly unusual,” said Greg Newman, VP of development and special projects, MPI/Dark Sky.
Dark Sky's first release will be The Manson Family, which streets April 26 for $19.98 (‘R'-rated version). A two-disc special edition director's cut (unrated) with bonus features will be available for $24.98.
The label already has about 60 films and plans to release 20 titles this year.
“Our goal is to present the best possible visual and sound quality,” Newman said. “Whenever possible, we're working real hard to include nice extras package with each release.”
