21 Apr, 2005 By: Angelique Flores

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) settled a lawsuit filed by members in April 2004 against ESS Technology.

Under the agreement, ESS will sell chips only to DVD Copy Control Association licensees.

The MPAA's member companies have cracked down on the illegal distribution of Content Scramble System chips used to unlock the security features on copyrighted DVDs.
