Movies Unlimited Reports Higher Web Sales4 Feb, 2002 By: Hive News
Mail order video retailer Movies Unlimited is trying to live up to its name, with a 45 percent hike in its year-over-year Web site revenues for the fourth quarter of 2001.
"DVDs are fast becoming a major part of our business, but right now they still account for less that 15 percent of the total," said to president Jerry Frebowitz. "I expect that to reach 25 to 30 percent by the end of 2002, but there is still plenty of life left in VHS."
That works out well for the company, as its 2002 edition catalog contains 40,000 VHS and 9,000 DVD titles.
Revenues jumped 45.45percent to $1,865,000 for the fourth quarter of 2001 vs. the previous year. Overall sales increased 21percent for the period. Orders placed through the Web site were up 54 percent during the period, Frebowitz said.
