Video-on-demand (VOD) contender Movielink is bulking up for a December launch, hiring a chief technology officer (CTO) and three executives to create its technology and operations organization.
John Godwin will be responsible for all company infrastructure and operations including Movielink's Web site, content distribution network, content security, e-commerce operations and business systems in his role as CTO. He will direct the company's technical evolution into new services, platforms and distribution methods. Godwin joins the company from DirecTV, where he was DirecTV's Chief Technologist and SVP for Advanced Products.
more than 10 years in media delivery including a key role as the principal architect of the DirecTV launch team. He also brings over a decade of experience in telecommunications systems development for voice, data and television.
Bruce Anderson becomes VP of Operations and will oversee operations of the Movielink service, including Web services and content delivery. He comes to Movielink from set-top-box appliance manufacturer Bast, where he was CTO. Prior to that, he was the SVP of Technology for digital entertainment service platform Intertainer.
Kenneth Goeller will be VP of Business Systems. Goeller, who will implement and maintain the financial, customer service and enterprise support systems, joins Movielink from banking and insurance software firm Global eTechnologies where he was the SVP of Technology. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of search technology firm Zatera.
Bryan Spaulding, an original member of the Movielink development team, has been upped to VP of Engineering. He will continue his responsibilities for the specification, implementation, and integration of key systems including content acquisition, content management, e-commerce and PC client players and other applications. Spaulding moves from Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment, which was the original developer of the Moviefly concept, where he was VP of Technology, digital distribution. Prior to that, he was the Business Unit Technology Officer at Viant.
