Movielink Adds Two More Execs

Expanding its executive team, Movielink, the five-studio joint video-on-demand (VOD) venture, today announced the recent hiring of Mariam Naficy, VP of Marketing and Jessica Algazi, VP of Content Acquisition.

Naficy will lead the marketing, product, customer service and content groups. She will be responsible for creating the overall service vision and driving day-to-day revenues. Naficy was co-founder of online cosmetics retailer Eve.com. Serving as co-CEO, she oversaw marketing and product management, built the company into a $10 million business and sold it successfully. Most recently, she was at Columbia TriStar International Television in Culver City, Calif., as interim VP, channels marketing. She holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Political Economy from Williams College.

Reporting to Naficy, Algazi will be responsible for leading Movielink's content acquisition efforts. She will manage the day-to-day relationships with Movielink's studio partners and acquire programming from third party suppliers as well as managing the operational and contractual aspects of licensing and inventory management.

Entertainment industry veteran,Algazi has handled acquisitions, coproductions and distribution in her prior positions with the Discovery Networks, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Dove Entertainment. Most recently, she led content acquisitions for Geocast Network Systems, a wireless on-demand datacasting service. Algazi holds a JD from Southwestern University School of Law and a BA from UCLA.
