MovieLaLa App Mixes Movie Marketing with Social Networking

22 May, 2014 By: Chris Tribbey

San Francisco-based app developer MovieLaLa has launched a new movie-centric app that lets users personalize their movie tastes based on cast and crew, share recommendations with friends, and find new people with whom to watch films.

MovieLaLa has partnered with all six major studios, as well as Lionsgate, Relativity Media, Focus Features and Participant Media, to use the app as a marketing platform for new theatrical releases. MovieLaLa will share data on what users are sharing with the studios.

“We are excited to share MovieLaLa with the world,” said Dana Loberg, CEO and co-founder of company. “By connecting your movie taste with movies your friends are interested in, MovieLaLa makes discovering your next favorite film easier than ever before. The social experience is a huge part of moviegoing, but it previously hadn’t successfully made the jump to our online lives. MovieLaLa captures that missing element and makes movie-going fun again.”

The free app is currently available for the iPad, with plans for iPhone and Android apps this summer.
